Bio
I'm a freelance artist, trying to establish better skills. I'm not new to livejournal, but this is a new journal of mine as of Jan 7, 2009. I have not seriously used the site for two to five years (I really can't remember), and would appreciate any friendships extended. I am particularly interested in talking to other artists, for critique of the art I'm trying to develop. I love drawing people, and sometimes landscapes or animals, and am striving to better my skills to follow through with my dream to become a fantasy/ science fiction artist. (Whether it be doing covers for books, or concept art.) I'm also interested in creating lesbian erotica, though notedly the majority of my interest runs on the tasteful side there. Stuff you might see in a specialty or open minded gallery.

I'm not in school at the moment, and I honestly don't believe in formal college for the artist. For some people, it works, but I have a strong indignation at the fact that a college would ask me for anywhere from several thousand, to several HUNDRED thousand dollars, to provide me with an education in the arts- something that it is horridly difficult to make a living at for the majority of the persons who graduate. And further, most of the classes are not artistically oriented; nay, less than half of them are. I will say that I've been through several semesters myself before deciding to quit, and have had experience with two different schools. I was successful academically, and in my last semester, eligible for a scholarship. So I'm not some flunky who decided to dis the school scene. I'm actually a successful ex-student who took stock of what was going on, weighed the pros and cons, and decided that formal school has many more cons than pros. From what I've learned and seen, you can buy a $40 book at Barnes and Noble and get the same level of artistic education as one college-level art class, provided you have the initiative to do so. Take that however you will, and know that I mean no insult to you if you are currently in art school. I wish you luck, and envy the professional connections you'll make there, possibly the only downside of NOT getting an art degree.

Though my journal is going to be mostly about art, probably, there will be other discussions and thoughts I have from time to time.. just like anyone else. I like other squiggly geeky stuff, like games and computers. I also keep up with snippets of the news, and sometimes have thoughts. Most of all, I enjoy talking to people, forming close relationships with those worthy of trust. I'm usually pretty candid, and expect my friends to give me the same courtesy.

Hm. That's all I can think of for now.
